A pair of powerful Legendary Pokémon are soaring into the Pokémon Trading Card Game: 30th Celebration expansion. Lugia and Ho-Oh, two Pokémon that were originally discovered in the Johto region, have arrived with flourish and flair—and amusingly enough, they’re striking similar poses on their cards. Let’s take an early peek:
With wings spread wide, Lugia looks rather fierce on this card by Kazuki Minami. Given the pounding rain bouncing off the Diving Pokémon and the swirling water forming in front of it, we figure whoever is on the receiving end of Lugia’s fearsome glare is in for some torrential trouble. Especially if it uses its Elemental Blast attack, which does a mighty 250 damage (even if the attack does require discarding Energy to use).
In contrast to Lugia’s nighttime scene, Ho-Oh appears during the day on this card by Anesaki Dynamic. Its multicolored feathers glisten against the bright blue sky, and with its wide-open beak, we can almost hear this Legendary Pokémon’s cry. Ho-Oh’s Fire Wing attack does a respectable 100 damage, and its Sacred Breath attack, which heals all damage from one of your Benched Pokémon, can come in handy. Just be aware that you’ll have to discard all of Ho-Oh’s Energy to use it!
